About the event

Join us for a community-driven biodiversity survey focused on documenting the often-overlooked organisms that inhabit some of Colorado’s most unique ecosystems. Bringing together naturalists, scientists, photographers, and curious explorers, participants will use iNaturalist to help document fungi, insects, plants, and other forms of life while contributing valuable biodiversity data and learning community science skills.

As part of the event, all registered participants will be invited to a free Zoom session covering the basics of iNaturalist, including how to make observations, upload photos, and contribute useful biodiversity records. The session is designed for beginners, but anyone looking to sharpen their skills is welcome to attend.

Whether you're an experienced naturalist or simply curious about the natural world, you'll have the chance to contribute meaningful observations while connecting with others who share a passion for discovery. Additional details, locations, and activities will be announced soon. RSVP to reserve your spot and receive event updates. Andrés Better is a naturalist, conservationist, cave biologist, and macro photographer based in Colorado with a passion for documenting overlooked biodiversity. His interests span insects, plants, fungi, caves, and other often-unnoticed organisms, and he is an active contributor to biodiversity documentation through iNaturalist. You can explore some of his incredible photography on Instagram at (@andybetterbugs). Graham Steinruck is a chef, forager, and mycologist focused on the identification and documentation of wild fungi. He is the founder of Biodiversity Collective, an educational initiative connecting people to overlooked organisms through community science, biodiversity surveys, and field-based learning experiences. Graham is a certified Wild Mushroom Identification Expert through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and regularly leads fungal forays, workshops, and biodiversity projects throughout the western United States.
