What to Expect
The Kaua‘i Mushroom Summit is an immersive three‑day educational event focused on the fungal biodiversity of the cloud forests surrounding the historic Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in Kōke‘e State Park. Over the course of the summit, you will travel through multiple ecosystems with expert mycologists, learn fungal identification, document mushroom species, and help lay the foundation for conservation efforts on Kaua‘i.
Capacity and Lodging

The event is limited to 15 participants.

Lodging consists of single beds in a large shared room; private rooms are not available.

Facilities include a community kitchen and showers.

Cell phone reception is very limited, though Wi‑Fi will be available.
Transportation

Parking on site is extremely limited. A shuttle service from Līhu‘e Airport (LIH) is provided.

Participants must arrive at Līhu‘e Airport no later than 11:00 am HST on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The shuttle departs at 11:30 am HST.

One stop will be made en route for grocery purchases.

Once on site, participants will remain until Sunday, January 11 at noon HST, when the shuttle returns to Līhu‘e.

Depending on your flight schedule, you may wish to book accommodation in or around Līhu‘e for the nights of January 7 or January 11. Locally operated motels and hotels are available; contact us for recommendations.
Meals

Breakfast: Grab‑and‑go style provided daily.

Dinner: Potluck style with a main course provided; a sign‑up sheet will be shared for contributions.

Lunch and snacks: Not provided; please bring your own.

Water and coffee are included. Alcohol is not provided.
What to Bring

Bedding (pillow and sleeping bag) and a bath towel.

Rain gear and warm clothing. January temperatures average 72–76°F (22–24°C), but can occasionally drop to 49°F (9°C). Trails may be muddy and wet.

Personal items not listed above (plane tickets, laundry, etc. are not included).
Ticket Inclusions
Your ticket covers:

Lodging for three nights (January 8–10, 2026)
